Taghazout: surf, where to stay and how to get there

Taghazout is a fishing village on Morocco's Atlantic coast, about 20 km north of Agadir, and the country's best-known surf town. A run of right-hand point breaks — Hash Point, Panorama, Anchor Point and Killer Point — wraps around the village and is at its best from October to March. Beginners learn on the beach breaks of Tamraght and Aourir, a few minutes south.

When to surf in Taghazout

Anchor Point and Killer Point need a winter swell, roughly October to March. In summer the points are often flat and most surfing moves to the beach breaks.

October to April is the classic season, when Atlantic swells wake up the right-hand points. May to September is smaller and warmer — the easiest months to learn. There are surfable waves all year. The sea is around 17–18 °C in winter and 21–22 °C at the end of summer, so a 3/2 wetsuit does for most of the year.

Getting to Taghazout
